Recruitment season is coming up fast and this year we are hoping to recruit both Musicians and Dancers to the Black Swan family.

If you think that this may be something that appeals to you, why not come along to one or all three of our taster sessions that are on the 5th, 12th and 19th of October from 7.30pm – 9.30pm at our usual practice hall - 5th Sutton Scout Hall, 54, Westmead Road, Sutton, SM1 4JN.

We practice at the hall on Monday evenings all year around; except Bank Holidays and we may miss some if we have had a particularly busy weekend of dancing.

We are a busy side with at least 30 events a year, some of which may be weekends away, when we generally camp.

If you play an instrument our band, growing in both confidence and number, is always welcoming folk musicians looking to take their music to the next level and put it to dance on the big stage. We play a lively mix of mostly English tunes with some exotic inclusions from France and Turkey! The music sessions that often accompany a dance out are a great way of learning new tunes and meeting fellow musos. 

The more events and practices dancers are able to commit to, the more dances you will be taught, and the more fun you will have.

If you would like a chance to meet members and have a look at what we do beforehand, our annual Carshalton Day of Dance is on September 26th, dancing around the village, and finishing with a social at the Hope in West Street afterwards.

 

It’s good fun and a great way to meet people from all over the place!
